Milestone moments
Celebrate birthdays and work anniversaries so nobody's big day goes unnoticed. And turn an anniversary into a moment to thank someone for their year of work.

Why it works
Forgetting someone's birthday or work anniversary feels small, but people notice. Remembering it tells them they matter as a person, not only for their output.
Work anniversaries are also a natural time to look back. A few specific words about what someone did this year mean much more than a generic "happy anniversary".
How to run it
- Collect the dates. Gather birthdays (only from people who want to share them) and start dates.
- Automate the reminders. Set up automatic greetings so no date is missed.
- Invite the team to join. When a greeting is posted, colleagues reply with karma and a few words.
- Make anniversaries personal. The manager adds one or two specific things the person did this year.
- Mark round numbers. For 1, 3, 5 or 10 years, consider something extra: a small gift, a team lunch, a longer message.

How Karma helps
With Milestone automation, Karma posts birthday and anniversary greetings for you, so no date is forgotten. Teammates can reply with karma right in the thread.
How to measure
Check in Culture analytics:
- how many teammates join each greeting with karma;
- whether anniversary messages include specific thanks, not just congratulations.
Common mistakes
- Sharing birthdays without asking. Some people prefer to keep them private. Always ask first.
- Generic anniversary messages. Add at least one specific thing the person did.
- Only celebrating round numbers. Every year counts, especially the first one.
Frequently asked questions
What about people who don't want a public birthday post?
Respect it. Let people opt out, and send them a private message instead if they like.
Should we celebrate personal milestones too?
Only if the person shares them. Weddings, new babies and other news are lovely to celebrate when people want to.
